Is a direct confrontation with imperial power the only way for a man to resist the corrosive effects of modernity?
There are certainly men who use excuses about their inability to topple the behemoth to mask their own lack of drive and ambition. In fact, this is likely the majority’s strategy.
Hopeless struggle can be the Honorable path, like the hungry wolf snared by the scent of an easy meal. The Hero must choose death when the only alternative is ignoble submission.
The wise wolf is he who avoids such snares, and whose howls haunt the night, reminding the trapper of what will always await him beyond his torchlight.
What it comes down to is one’s definition of Victory.
Victory for my brothers and me means we are able to thrive on our own terms. Victory means the cultivation of a culture that venerates the Heroic, that sharpens us, that ennobles our women, and inspires our children to honor their blood.
I am only concerned with the world at large to the extent that it impacts our ability to meet our goals. To be honest, if we are laser-focused on living a life with our objectives in mind then the world you see on TV becomes more and more distant.
Imagine walking down a forest path, and with every step you take the TV world becomes less and less relevant. This is my victory. I only engage with the world on my terms. On the terms of my pack.
This is a battle that is fought every moment of every day. It is fought in our minds and hearts; and it is expressed in our bodies, our choices, and our actions large and small.
The people who seek to control you want you to believe that the battle is fought from the outside-in.
The Victory I seek is utterly unknowable to them and must be won instead from the inside-out.
Change yourself, become worthy of the world you seek, and only then will you be in a position to bring it about.
